The FREE 72oz. STEAK dinner is still flourishing at the Big Texan. More than 40,000 people have attempted to consume the Free 72oz. Steak dinner since 1960. About 7,000 have succeeded. People from all over the world continue to visit us to take the challenge and claim the bragging rights.
Walking into the Big Texan is a feast for the senses. The lobby is filled with lights, sound and laughter. A Magician mesmerizes the folks crowding around his display. A group of strolling musicians has a table of visitors stomping their feet and clapping their hands in-time to a rollicking rendition of a country standard. Members of a tour group gather around the Giant Rocking Chair to take photos, while others test their marksmanship at the shooting gallery.

The Restaurant Jorge's Tacos Garcia decor is colorful, right down to the stained-glass windows, century-old wrought-iron chandeliers, and the fountain out front. This Amarillo restraurant has the look, but the food and drinks make experience unique.
The Food The "West Texas Tex-Mex", Old Mexico and New Mexico recipes are time-tested at Jorge's, from a family that has been serving the best Mexican food for half of a century. Some unique specialites include the batter-free rellenos , the enchiladas de chile verde, made with blue corn tortillas and topped with green chile, and the taquitos de barbacoa, grilled tacos loaded with "Mexican barbecue."
